Future of Supply Chain: Be Prepared to Work Hard to Rock On!

Presidential Ballroom South
Kevin O'Marah, Chief Content Officer, SCM World

Megatrends conspiring to reshape the supply chain future include demographic turmoil and equilibration, resource constraints and sustainability, and the growing drumbeat of digitization of commerce and community. This will require supply chain professionals to have a whole new set of capabilities for deeper demand and supply sensing as well as radical new ways to respond with agile operations. The key challenge will be shifting away from traditional periodic time-based planning approaches to a much more business-centric event-driven approach. Supply chain professional skillsets will need to work hard, rock on and evolve quickly as commercial judgment increasingly intersects with quantitative engineering disciplines.

Speaker Bio
Kevin leads SCM World’s content team and cutting-edge, practitioner-driven supply chain research. He also co-chairs the SCM World Executive Advisory Board and is a research fellow at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Boone Pickens.

Prior to joining AMR, Kevin was a Vice President at Oracle Corporation, where he was responsible for supply chain and product lifecycle management applications strategies. The One-(Wo)Man Band: Improving Production Planning Efficiency

Presidential Ballroom South
Jenny Balderrama, Production Planner, Keysight Technologies

Production planners always face the challenge of increasing efficiency – playing more instruments with fewer musicians! For Keysight, the greatest challenge was the inflexibility of the MRP system interface and its inability to join data and information in a meaningful way.

Planners developed several Kinaxis RapidResponse workbooks to conduct this performance improvement, but they saw the most fortissimo impact from the Job Release and Sales Order Management Reports. Through these tools, planners rocked out efficiency increases to the tune of over 150%. In this session, learn how Keysight used RapidResponse enabled to make better planning decisions faster and more specific to their high-mix, low-volume production environment.

Speaker Bio
As a relative newcomer to the company, Jenny Balderrama has brought a fresh perspective to Keysight planning processes and tools. During the past three years, she completed a top-to-bottom redesign of the planning process, updating and optimizing every area. She has revolutionized communication and transparency between Keysight manufacturing organizations around the world through the use of RapidResponse. Jenny successfully orchestrated planning over a period of 18 months for a full factory move, protecting over $300 million in revenue – with zero impact to deliveries. She enjoys assisting in the design of new RapidResponse tools for co-workers, and has contributed to reports supporting everything from stockroom, procurement, incoming inspection, process and product engineering, to production management and lean manufacturing.

With its unique system maps, Xilinx struggled to find harmony across its multiple data sources. Dealing with multiple ERPs resulted in some serious challenges. Information was housed in multiple places and data accuracy and cleanliness became a big problem – especially when it came to getting the most from Kinaxis RapidResponse.

To find harmony among its data, Xilinx implemented a process to check for data errors, including any missing bills of material, or supply and demand constraints. Those responsible for those orders were then notified of the issue, and resolution tracking began. Thanks to its innovative error tracking processes, Xilinx was able to reduce the number of data errors from thousands to less than a few hundred.

Join us for a discussion where the panel will tackle the growing complexities of operating a supply chain in today’s volatile world and highlight what industry leaders are doing to transform their supply chains by harnessing the power of digital technology.

Current supply chain organizations are at a crossroad. It’s a challenge for supply chains to keep up with today’s volatility because of fragmented, functional silos. This functional approach leads to a lack of visibility, poor response times, conflicting priorities, inefficient fulfillment models, inflexible technology and lack of advanced skills.

Accenture believes that getting to the next generation of supply chain capabilities will need to break down functional silos, redefine priorities, and build synchronized operational capabilities. These steps are key to a supply chain that is rapid, scalable, intelligent and connected to drive business into the digital age and beyond…Supply Chain 2.0.
