Environmental, Social and Governance Performance

Know sooner. Act faster. Remove waste.

Our commitments

We aim to constantly improve our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. Making the world a better place is central to our culture, people and product. Our ESG strategy is overseen from the very top, by the Nominating and Governance Committee of our Board, and extends throughout the organization via a cross-functional steering committee. The committee ensures that we receive input from and give guidance to the entire organization on how we can improve our ESG performance. Through this governance structure, we have made four clear commitments to guide our ESG initiatives and focus the team on goals where Kinaxis can truly make a difference.

Protecting our planet

Taking care of people

'People matter here' is the foundation of our culture. Our teams are spread across the world, and each one is just as important to us as the next. We take great care in cultivating a socially conscious culture where we are all empowered.

Protecting the planet

Our platform, RapidResponse®, makes significant contributions to helping our customers reduce waste in its many forms every day. It helps manufacturers of a diverse variety of goods reduce wasted product, mitigate carbon emissions, enable efficient recycling and ensure critical items like pharmaceuticals are available where and when they’re needed.

Net-zero strategy

We’re also taking significant steps internally to protect our planet. With the help of an independent consultant, we've calculated our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and have purchased quality offsets to achieve carbon neutrality for 2020. While our focus ahead will be on reducing our carbon emissions, for the long term, Kinaxis is fully committed to continuing to offset any Scope 1 to 3 emissions that remain after our reduction efforts.

Taking care of people

One thing that remains a constant at Kinaxis is that People Matter Here. This will never change. It’s in our DNA and comes from the combination of our corporate values, our purpose, behaviors, actions and ways of working together. We celebrate each other’s differences, continuously strive for equality and recognize that inclusion makes us stronger as individuals, a company and global citizens. Recently, amongst other important initiatives, we’ve:

  • Mandated that, for key roles, 30% of candidates presented and 25% of candidates interviewed must be from underrepresented groups
  • Launched a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee
  • Required every employee to pass unconscious bias and inclusion fundamentals training

We bolstered our benefits to provide extra support as our team managed the impacts of COVID-19, such as expanded mental health training and doubling counseling benefits. We designated the last Friday of every month a “Kinaxis Day” – a day off for all employees globally.

As a result of our extraordinary, award-winning culture and exciting work opportunities, our employee engagement score increased to 90% overall, and 93% of people would recommend Kinaxis to a friend.

Giving back

One of our corporate values recognizes that we are all global citizens. As part of that commitment, Kinaxis has a corporate giving program that includes two main direct-giving streams: Kinaxis-led charitable giving and employee-led charitable matching. We also have a set of community involvement guidelines designed to support charitable events and causes that will have value for the greatest number of Kinaxis employees. We have helped over 60 organizations that feed, house and provide medical and emotional care for those who need it most. However, 2020 demanded that we do something more. It was a year of tremendous physical, emotional and financial suffering for far too many, so we focused additional contributions to help groups that bore a disproportionate burden. In 2020, we donated over six times our initial, planned commitment.
