By the very nature of our culture, people and product, Kinaxis has been on a long journey to constantly improve our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. With this report, we’ve highlighted the most material aspects of our business as they relate to ESG factors, including our environmental footprint, our approach to diversity, inclusion and community, our focus on security and privacy of customer data, and how we help customers improve their own ESG performance.
As you read the report, you’ll discover important achievements, like how 100% of our energy consumption at our Equinix co-location facilities is covered through purchases of renewable energy, and how 100% of new office furniture purchases are recyclable and meet LEED certification.
We have an opportunity to do even better in our new headquarters. We intend to pursue the Platinum level of the WELL Building Standard, which will ensure that our new work home and related programs focus on the health and overall well-being of our employees in their office environment.
Diversity, inclusion and community
We’re a diverse group who is proud that 30% of our team and 38% of our board of directors are women, and that 41% of our Canadian head office family identify themselves as visible minorities. We have set and consistently exceeded our target to ensure that 1% of our population are on the autism spectrum.
The Kinaxis team feels included: 97% feel that they are an accepted member of their group and 92% believe that when they speak up their opinion and perspectives are valued. Our overall score on our last team engagement survey was 86%.
Our focus on security and privacy
We serve leading brands globally, so core to our governance and social stewardship is the security and privacy of their data. We engage a globally recognized independent auditor to perform annual SOC 1 and SOC 2 audits of our service. We comply with all applicable laws, including the European Union’s important General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Kinaxis policies and practices include measures that are aligned with recognized industry standards such as the ISO 27000 family of standards, the Cloud Security Alliance, NIST 800 SP and others.

Paying it forward: helping customers with ESG performance
We also help our customers reduce waste and improve lives by lowering finished goods inventory, ensuring critical products are always available and by reducing carbon-intensive expediting of products by air courier. There is much more, naturally. We also know that we can improve across all areas of our ESG performance, but we are pleased to share with you the solid foundation represented by this marker on our journey.
