We often bemoan the complications of working remotely these days — missing coworkers, the inconveniences of home offices, awkward video chats — but there are also benefits, like lunch from the comfort of your kitchen and a more casual wardrobe. When we launched our first ever virtual Kinexions conference this year, we expected to see some benefits and drawbacks. What we didn’t anticipate was that the benefits would extend far beyond our community of supply chain planners.
Today, we’re proud to share that thanks to Kinexions ’20 attendees like you, Kinaxis will be donating over $35,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, committed to providing COVID-19 relief. Congratulations to each and every one you! The heart and altruism of this community has touched us, and it will have a positive influence on so many others as well.
It demonstrates something we have believed all along: Organizations can make big impacts with small changes. We raised thousands of dollars through Kinexions ’20 by giving you an option: Would you like to receive conference swag as part of your registration? Or would you like Kinaxis to make a donation in your name? We weren’t sure how this would go over with conference attendees. Who doesn’t want a swag bag after all? You surprised us.
Your contributions will be providing crucial relief to those in need, but they will do more than that. Because so many of you chose to donate, our conference has a smaller environmental footprint this year. We strive to increase sustainability in our customers' supply chains and in our actions as a global company. Your donations mean no need to offset shipping or packaging for thousands of gifts sent all over the world. Your virtual attendance means less travel and therefore lower emissions. As much as we love meeting in person, we’re glad there’s an upside to staying home.
Your contributions have also uplifted us. This has been a challenging year around the world, and we could all use good news. Tiktok videos and the occasional to-go cocktail or latte might provide temporary reprieve, but experiencing connection, humanity and compassion on a global scale has given us an enduring feeling of joy and optimism. We hope it helps you too. Thank you again for your generosity and for making Kinexions ’20 an amazing event. We can’t wait to see what happens next year.
