Remix Cohort 3: What the final cohort taught us about agentic planning

Last season, but not the last lesson

By Omowumi Agboola • 14 Oct 2026

The final customer cohort of the Kinaxis Maestro Remix Agent Hackathon has wrapped, bringing another round of ideas for how agentic AI could change the way supply chain teams work.

Across the cohort, teams tackled some of planning’s most persistent sources of friction: late supply and demand, root-cause investigation, disruption response, constrained scenario planning, and excess inventory.

Despite the range of use cases, a common thread emerged: the opportunity for agentic AI isn’t simply to give planners answers faster. It’s to shorten the distance between a problem and an informed decision.

The three winning submissions point to three emerging signals in how teams are applying agentic AI to planning challenges.

Signal 1: The best agents connect insight to action

Castrol, this cohort’s Overall Winner, tackled the challenge of responding to disruptions when impacts and potential responses span multiple systems, constraints, and business priorities.

The team developed a multi-agent workflow that traces disruption exposure across materials, finished goods, customers, revenue, and gross margin. Specialized agents assess exposure, explore recovery options, check feasibility, and compare scenarios including inventory transfers, alternate sourcing, bill-of-material substitution, and customer allocation.

The team reported compressing decision analysis from five days to two hours, helping connect the steps from understanding a disruption to evaluating potential responses while keeping people in control of the decision.

Signal 2: AI can give planners back time spent investigating

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. received the Best Business Impact award for tackling a deceptively simple question: Why is this finished good late?

Answering it can mean tracing forecasts across worksheets, supply orders, transfers, constraints and upstream dependencies—a root-cause investigation Skyworks estimated can take up to 90 minutes.

Its Master Production Schedule (MPS) Lateness Root Cause Diagnostic Agent turns that investigation into a conversational workflow, tracing supply and demand relationships, identifying contributing transfers, and upstream work orders, and showing planners where to investigate next.

Signal 3: The best opportunities cross-functional boundaries

The Hershey Company received the Most Innovative Agent award for tackling excess and expiring inventory, a challenge that can require action across the business.

Its agent identifies priority expiring inventory and financial exposure, finds customers that have historically purchased the product, and reviews planned production that could potentially be reduced or cancelled. The team also envisioned connecting supply planners with sales when supply-side changes alone couldn’t address the issue.

The concept asks two connected questions: Can we avoid producing more? And can we find a path to move what we already have?

What three Remix cohorts taught us

When Remix began, the question was deliberately open: What could supply chain teams build with agents inside Maestro?

Three cohorts later, that question has led teams to different AI solutions, but one lesson stands out: the opportunity isn’t to remove people from planning decisions. It’s to make the work around those decisions easier to navigate.

Agents can help orchestrate that work, connecting analysis, trade-offs and potential actions while keeping human judgment at the center.

Remix may be wrapping up for the year, but these three cohorts have given us a clearer picture of the opportunity ahead for agentic planning
