When it comes to supply chain disruption, we’ve pretty much seen it all and then some over the last three years: container ships anchored for days waiting to dock at international ports; intermittent factory closures, product shortages and delays; highly volatile stock markets and skyrocketing inflation; a devastating global pandemic and major geopolitical conflict. Virtually no industry has been spared the impact of at least some of these disruptions, from consumer products and automotive to semiconductors and life sciences. And that's on top of the daily disruptions supply chain planners already manage.

A few years ago, this level of chaos in the global economy and in supply chains in particular would have been unthinkable, or even downright apocalyptic. These days we call it just another Tuesday.

For supply chain planners in any sector you can think of there will no doubt be some tough days ahead when it seems like everything that can go wrong, does go wrong, and the supply chain control center feels like a pressure cooker that’s ready to explode.

So, why not release some of the stressors with a good laugh? In our new video series, we take a light-hearted look at what can happen to supply chain planners and the planning process when chaos and uncertainty are the order of the day. Well, at least for those organizations that are not equipped with everything they need to weather the storm.

It’s the first in a series of new Supply Chain Moments videos we've launched. The series captures the essence of the unique moment we’re living through and the challenging environment that supply chains are operating in today. It looks at the daily disruptions and the multitude of local and global phenomena beyond anyone’s control, and how these impact the lives of people around the world.

We know supply chain planning matters and profoundly affects the consumer experience. The everyday moments in our lives, big and small, depend on global supply chains thriving even in the face of adversity.

It’s time to plan for disruption, so you can tackle each moment.
